I was thrilled to see that Dr. Oz had a show on this topic because it is so pervasive. Pay attention to these startling statistics that he shared on the 12-3-13 show. When we never say no, there is a 35% increase in premature death and the rate of cancer goes up by 70%!!!

I’m afraid to let people know my feelings.
When I’m angry, I do not let people know.
I often don’t tell my friends something that I think will upset them.
I try to be pleasant so that others won’t get upset.
When I’m anxious, I try not to worry anyone else.
Karen, the show’s guest, struggles with these feeling and thoughts on a daily basis and it interrupts not only her sleep but causes her daily headaches. A suggestion to overcoming saying yes was to say, let me check my schedule (before she commits to anything with anybody). That is a good start but her guilt has much deeper roots. If you struggle with the inability to say no, there is a deeper loop preying in you that is causing those deep emotions, and automatic, and unconscious assumptions. You are locked into an energetic loop in your subconscious mind and body. If at some time you learned that to be loved, accepted or to avoid conflict, you need to attend to their desires first, it became a safety solution in you as a child. If you saw a beloved role model always come last, guess what? You took on a subconscious assumption that you need to do and have the same behaviors to be “like them”. I would ask a question? Were they happy and healthy? Those kinds of unconscious assumptions, are the cause of family patterns including anxiety, illness, constant stress, sleep issues, overeating, and alcohol abuse–just to name a few. I would suggest that those types of health issues could really be “dis-eases” in your energy. Do you really want to model those too?
Is there a solution? Oh yes and those patterns, were probably modeled for you or ingrained in some way before the age of 10 years old!
