What is YOUR intent and focus?

I am part of a music forum and one of the comments was from a writer, arranger, and producer and he was sharing his frustration with today’s young artists. I am in the industry in a different way than the creation side of the music like he is, but from a listening standpoint, it sure seems that way to me too—dumbed down AND without much class either. I have to say though, that I was pleased with the Bruno Mars performance last night on The Voice Bruno Mars “Treasure” video here. He sang an uplifting message song of being a treasure and being who you are. There were no “hanging off your butt” pants (Do any women really like that????), no sex on the stage, just great singing, simple but synchronized moves, nice clothes, and very entertaining. That’s my opinion and apparently, the audience thought so too, as they were vibing to the tune. It was classy and full of talent.

Now, check out how I see the “energetic” differences between the extremely popular The Voice, and fading American Idol. Show creator Mark Burnett, comes from a different INTENT (which carries a different energy focus. I am an energy coach after all.)  I heard his intent for the show in an interview he gave, which is to have a successful, feel good show, without the drama or cut throat comments to tear someone down. His intent comes from a higher vibrational energy and so does the show’s success, as it soars in popularity. Success doesn’t have to be about money OR just pushing projects out. Music (or any business goal) can have both great content and appeal AND financial success, and The Voice show is one example of that. With a few exceptions, The Voice finale performances, were mostly full of talent, the ability to sing–not just throw together some stuff to make money with sex as the main focus.
It seems that everyone wants to be a star and have the money that comes with it, but there are those artists that would make music for the love of it, without the fame and fortune and there CAN BE BOTH in the same package if you right around your underlying assumptions and energy.

As I watched a recent interview of famous NBA coach, Phil Jackson, he talked about instilling the love of the game and for each other, into the team. (“Love” carries a very high vibrational energy for those of you who don’t know anything about energy.) He won those 11 NBA titles for a reason–because the intent came from a different energetic place.

If you repeatedly expose people to violence and bad news, that becomes their focus without them even realizing it. (Do you see what’s on TV and in the music that replays constantly???)  The same is true of the opposite focus and intent. Hopefully more people, like Mark Burnett, will help to change the culture.
