Does it make you feel important? Does it make you feel superior that your time is more important that someone else’s when you are CHRONICALLY late? Do you answer your phone when you are with other people and it is NOT an emergency? I hate to break it to you, but YOU are creating your overwhelm, your busyness, and tardiness and it is serving a purpose if it is a chronic state of being.
Here’s a biggie. Does your busyness keep you sooooo busy so that you don’t FEEL what you are trying to avoid by being in non-stop action? Maybe you are confusing attention and being needed with being loved and using it as a substitute. If your life is so jammed packed and it is a habit, there IS a payoff. Do you thrive on the excitement and/or is that what you have always been used to so it’s part of your identity?
I’ve heard it takes 18 minutes, yes that’s 18 minutes (if I remember correctly) to refocus on a task at hand when you get interrupted. How much time are you wasting trying to refocus when you really COULD be checking email, texts, or phone messages once every hour or couple of hours? Unless you are in an emergency field, you have trained yourself and those around you that it is okay to be constantly interrupted. Pay attention to what you want and begin to see how to get there…and tapping can help you refocus. Are you tapping yet?
