Limiting Beliefs?  Like what?
December 17, 2015

Do you have decision fatigue?  Is your brain just feeling tired from making so many decisions and choices?

I remember telling a friend that I felt brain tired and weary of making so many decisions all the time.  I started to feel like I couldn’t decide on anything regardless of difficulty.  My ability really suffered when dealing with ESPECIALLY challenging options such as computer issues!   I have to say that I felt comforted to the name given to overwhelm specifically related to decision making.   It’s actually called Decision Fatigue.  Are you curious and want to learn more?  Read the article here on Decision Fatigue.

Due to a decade of personal circumstances beyond my control, I found myself in a seemingly unending and constant loop of overwhelming difficult decisions.  I would have bouts where I just COULDN’T make another choice or move forward and that created another level of anxiety.  It’s not just about stress or feeling tired which were also part of the mix.  The heavy barrage of decision making, was wearing me down.  It overwhelmed me to the point where I wondered if I was going crazy because I couldn’t decide or make another choice!  Talk about feeling stuck?!

Too many decisions in one day can cause mental fatigue, so imagine what too many for too long will do to your abilities!  It overwhelms our mind and body.  So…I wasn’t “losing it” or going crazy.  That revelation was very comforting.  I didn’t know that decision fatigue also affects things like willpower.  Another comforting revelation!

Have you ever had a time in your life where you had to make heavy health care decisions, or life/death decisions for someone you love not knowing what was best?  Or you had questions of what do I do about this or that, what business decisions do I make, what business niche do I zero in on, what website person to use, that choice this choice, what realtor to use, do I move, do I keep something because I will regret selling it, what price do I sell this for, yes-no, on and on and on.  It’s exhausting!  Whether decisions are easy or difficult they take a toll when there are too many.  The time of day and when you’ve last eaten affect all of this too.

Every time your phone beeps, rings or alerts you, you are using up your decision making allotment for the day!  Do I answer?  Do I respond now or will I forget to do it later?  Do I say yes or no….UGH, it’s constant!

This past weekend, I had some work done on my house and I felt so comforted by the two professional men doing the work.  It wasn’t because of any male/female attraction to the guys working on my house.  It was because I felt nurtured, safe and they were making the expert decisions beyond my knowledge capability.  It was clear they were experts, and they worked so easily together bringing a peace about the work being done.  More importantly, I felt relief that I didn’t have to think about it.  I am a strong woman, and don’t want people telling me what I should and shouldn’t do.  I do, however, like input from trusted sources and being able to rely on experts when it’s something I know nothing about.

If you have ever been overloaded with seemingly non-stop decisions, you know what I’m talking about.  Take comfort in knowing you are not crazy, lazy or losing your mind.  You might just be needing some help, or nurturing from a trusted source.

I was once guilty of having to “prove” myself, and I did in many ways.  I finally came to the realization of the huge value and gift of being nurtured and supported giving a respite from decision fatigue.  What a relief!

How about you?  Do you need to do it all?  Can you accept or allow help?  Do you WANT help or do you need to prove to “them” that you can do it all?!  Do you have an internal belief that the help that I need is never there so I have to do it myself?  Do you struggle with feeling deserving?  Did you see your role model growing up “do it all” by themselves so you have unconsciously believed that’s how the world works?  Did you grow up with a feeling that you were on your own without much help? There are so many limiting beliefs that can get stuck in our unconscious mind or energy that might be working against us.  Is it time to take stock, challenge them and clear them out?

That pattern and feeling like you have to prove your worth, gets a lot of people in a non-stop need for acceptance or the, “watch me” and see what I can do, syndrome.  Let me give you a hint, if you somehow got the message that you can’t ask, allow or receive help, you will almost repel help until you change that internal energy.  Unless you are a user type of person, there is a way to accept and receive without feeling guilty.  It is one of the nicest gifts you will ever give yourself!

Does this pattern describe you?  Do you have to do it all?  Is it okay for someone to help you and do it their way?  Does your energy welcome safe nurturing?  We might not be able to control life circumstances that force us into decision overwhelm.  We can, however, limit what we might be doing to repel help.  Do you know how to change that pattern?

Tapping can come to the rescue again and clear any energetic patterns that prevent nurturing!  I have grown to love and accept blessings, being offered treats of kindness, and nurturing!  They are such beautiful gifts and tapping opened those doors for me!  How about you?  Do you have some limiting beliefs that are preventing nurturing?
