John C. Maxwell writes about handling criticism… And finally a wise old friend told me, “John, if you’re getting kicked in the rear it means you’re out front.” What he was saying was if you’re going to be a leader, you’re going to be criticized. So get used to it.
While I no longer think you have to suffer while being a leader, this quote was very helpful to me because I am definitely and “out of the box” thinker. When you think differently from the crowd, you aren’t part of the crowd, and you may end up being a leader instead. I have never been a follower, but I didn’t really realize I was destined to do things differently from the crowd either. I just DID it that way and never thought about it. There are those of us who are meant to find new paths, educate, and dissolve old ways that don’t work or develop ways to enhance what already exists. Be proud if this describes you, because you may very well help change people’s lives by leading.
Everyone has a role to fill and not everyone is meant to be a leader. The best awaits us when we do what feels right and for the right reasons. I promise that is more than possible! The more you remove negative beliefs and emotions, you DO find what is right for you, where you are meant to be and for the right reasons! EVERYONE has a great purpose. What are you doing to live yours?
